We raised $5M led by Dragonfly to build a global lottery

The desire to get rich is universal, but big jackpots are not. Most lotteries are limited to one state or country, which caps jackpot size. We're building a global lottery with one shared jackpot. Our first lottery launched with jackpots over $1 million, making it one of the world's largest.

Today, Megapot is announcing a $5M pre-seed round led by Dragonfly, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Bankless Ventures, and the founders of global gaming brands FanDuel, Betfair, and MyPrize.

We launched Megapot as an experiment in whether a lottery on the internet could work. When players from 124 countries started showing up and the jackpot kept growing, it became clear to us that lotteries are still too local. Our long-term bet is that they eventually converge into a single global draw, a daily ritual where millions of people pause to check their phones and see who just became a billionaire. We were inspired by viral daily games like Wordle and HQ Trivia.

One of our players, John B, has a 30-day streak playing Megapot. He started because he wanted a shot at a bigger jackpot, and he keeps coming back because it's easy to play from his phone.

While some players play daily, others get lucky immediately. One first-time player, who asked to remain anonymous, won $207,076 and called it “absolutely legendary.” Since 2024, we've had 19 jackpot winners.

Earlier this week, we launched a completely rebuilt global lottery for the internet era. Our team includes alumni from Uniswap, PoolTogether, Microsoft, and BuzzFeed. This funding will help us expand globally, launch new game experiences, and make it easier for developers and gaming operators to build on top of Megapot.
