How Cambria's Small Players Beat Expected D7 Retention by 17% With Megapot
Case study · 2 minutes · Oct 2026
Cambria's rewards scaled with volume, so its biggest players took most of the value. Its smaller players, most of its new signups, had less reason to come back each day.
By adding Megapot to its daily rewards, Cambria gave every player a new reason to show up: play, claim entries, and get a shot at up to $200,000 in that night's draw.
Since launch, D7 retention for players risking under $10 a day has come in 17% higher than expected, making them the only segment that grew.
TL;DR
- +17% D7 retention vs. expected: established players under $10 a day, compared with the trend for other paying players over the same period.
- 93% claim rate: small-budget players claimed on 93% of the days they played.
- 47% claim to play: nearly half of claims were followed by more play within 30 minutes.
Cambria Wanted Daily Rewards That Worked for Every Budget

Cambria added a branded Daily Jackpot to its game lobby, built into its existing daily rewards.
Each day, Cambria buys Megapot tickets. Every $0.10 key a player risks earns one entry into Cambria's nightly draw, capped at $1,000 of play a day so whales can't swamp it.
In order to qualify for the drawing users must claim their entries giving users a reason to revisit the app. Every claim also comes with a guaranteed points grant, so players get something even on nights they don't win.
The winnings from Cambria's Megapot tickets go into that night's prize pool and are split among a randomly selected set of players weighted by player entries.
"We wanted our daily rewards to feel exciting for players of every budget. Megapot gave them a shot at $200K every day, and D7 retention went up for our smaller players."
The Result: +17% D7 Retention vs. Expected
Small players' D7 retention rose 6% (59.7% → 63.2%), while other paying players fell 10% (78.4% → 70.3%) as a summer points campaign wound down. Had small players followed that trend, they'd be at 54%. They're at 63%, 17% higher than expected, making them the only segment that grew.
The daily claim became a habit. Small-budget players claimed on 93% of the days they played, and the busiest claim hour was the first hour after each result.
Claiming often led straight into play. Nearly half of claims were followed by more play within 30 minutes.
The Playbook for Other Apps
You don't need a new product to give players a daily reason to return.
- Build on an existing habit. Cambria added Megapot to the daily rewards players already checked.
- Cap entries per player. A daily cap kept the draw open to every budget, not just whales.
- Pair the upside with a sure thing. Entries carried the shot at $200K. A guaranteed points grant kept small players claiming on nights they didn't win.
- Make the result the appointment. Players came back for each night's result and claimed the next round on the spot.
Your existing product drives the behaviour. Megapot adds the shot at something bigger.
